The 2026 Peer Navigator application will go live on Handshake on November 24th, 2025!

What is a Peer Navigator?

Peer Navigators are undergraduate student leaders who mentor, and guide first-year students enrolled in UNIV 101 and 201, helping them transition to university life and align with Loyola’s Jesuit mission. Peer Navigators play a critical role in fostering a sense of belonging, connecting students to essential resources, and supporting academic and personal growth. By creating opportunities for meaningful reflection and engagement, Peer Navigators empower first-year students to develop a personal vision and narrative for success at Loyola University Chicago. 

Peer Navigator Responsibilities & Outcomes

  • Support 2 in-person UNIV 101 sections in the fall semester
  • Foster community inside and outside the classroom
  • Assist UNIV instructor(s) with class preparation, classroom facilitation, and first-year student engagement
  • Become a leader and role model to our incoming first-year or transfer students
  • Hourly pay rate

Application Process

Attend a Peer Navigator Information Session to learn more about the Peer Navigator position, changes to UNIV 101, and application process: 

  • Thursday, December 4th, 6:00 - 7:00pm, Flanner Hall Auditorium (FH 133)
  • January Info Session TBA 

The Peer Navigator application is released on Handshake every fall semester. Applications on Handshake are due by January 25, 2026. Qualified candidates will advance forward to the interview process beginning at the end of January. Decisions will be communicated before spring break.
